With Bontrager's LT3 tire, you'll get the best of both worlds. The aggressive side knobs bite into the dirt, while the connected center tread rolls fast on pavement. It can be used either as a front or a rear tire for great traction anywhere. It's also great for touring.
I installed these on the rear of my 2011 Trek FX 7.3. There was nothing wrong with the stock tire but I wanted to see how the 700x38 tire affected the handling characteristics of my bike vs. the original 700x32 hardcase.
When I first began to ride I could immedietly feel the drag and resistance of the tire. Since I ride for commuting and excercise reasons I felt there might be a good tradeoff into what this tire can allow me to do. Before even getting a chance to try something I normally wouldn't try on my previous tire I get a flat. Turns out there was some sort of small pinhole leak and the tire from what I could see looked fine...definitely not a good sign...I'll be placing back on my stock tire for sure.
Bottom LineNo, I would not recommend this to a friend
